Child Abuse Prevention

At MCHS, we know that parenting doesn’t come with a manual. We are proud to offer parent support group classes to all members of our community. Through prevention programing such as our support group, we help parents learn and develop new, effective and tangible parenting skills for safer and happier futures. Topics include financial literacy, job training, housing assistance (external resources), infant care, and self-care and more.

The need for individualized service and care to at-risk families is evident through the continued rise in children entering foster care. Through prevention services, we aim to develop and improve the quality, safety and security of home environments and communities at large.

For more information about our child abuse prevention services, contact Prevention Specialist Shanelle Thomas at 313-670-0313 or sthomas@mchsmi.org.
