Through our foster care program, we are able to provide safe havens for hundreds of children who are removed from their biological parents’ care due to the trauma of abuse and neglect. We help children (ages newborn through 18-years-old) find safe and loving homes as we continue to recruit more loving and safe foster families.
The ultimate goal for children in foster care is to reunify with their biological families. Foster families play an integral role in helping families successfully reunify. Through their care and dedication to the child, foster parents provide the necessary and added source of support each child needs.
The length of time a child spends with a foster family varies and could be short term or long term depending on a child’s circumstance. No matter the length of time a child spends in the home of one of our families, the impact on the life of the child is life-changing!

No matter the length of time a child spends in the home of one of our families, the impact on the life of the child is life-changing! Our short-term care foster families support emergency placements so that a child can sleep their home rather than a shelter. Short-term care foster parents also support our other foster parents during out of town dates and other short-term needs.
MCHS strives to encourage and support its foster families through a variety of programs and activities. In addition to a monthly support group session, the agency also holds a variety of trainings throughout the year to prepare foster parents for the challenges that often come with being a parent. Furthermore, we believe in creating an environment of support and resources for our foster families. They are not alone in caring for our community’s children! Each new foster family at MCHS is paired with a “mentor” family that can add to the support network we provide through staff and resources. MCHS is dedicated to going above and beyond to provide each foster family with resources and exciting enrichment opportunities throughout the year.

The Torrey family came to MCHS as a family of four and doubled in 4 years! The Torreys became licensed foster parents through MCHS in 2016 and opened their hearts and home to sisters Jasmine and Hope. Jasmine was placed with the Torrey family in March 2017 and adopted in 2018. Hope was placed with the family in March 2019 and adopted in November that year. The addition of Jasmine and Hope increased their family headcount to six! In 2019, the Torreys opened their home again to another pair of siblings in foster care, Jason and Stephanie.
The siblings are survivors of extreme neglect and trauma. Both children had difficulty regulating their emotions, having crying spells and violent temper tantrums. Through their consistent scheduling, discipline and an abundance of love and support, Jason and Stephanie were able to form a loving bond with the Torreys. In February, the Torreys celebrated the finalized adoptions of Jason and Stephanie. This brought their new family headcount to eight! We wish the Torrey family a lifetime of love and joy!
